Annemieke Hoek is associate professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology section reproductive medicine , University Medical Centre Groningen. She is gynecologist specialized in reproductive medicine. She is principal investigator in the research School UMCG from 2008 onwards and became associate professor in 2011. She is initiator of the “Reproductive Origin of Adult Health and Disease” research group at the SHARE institute University Groningen and is actively involved in clinical research in infertility treatment and reproduction. From 2001-2004, she participated in a feasibility trial evaluation IVF in “modified natural cycle” and implemented this form of IVF in regular patient care in the northern provinces of the Netherlands. She initiated research on the role of body fat distribution and the role of body weight reduction in anovulatory obese infertile women. She is project leader of a nationwide randomized clinical trial evaluating the cost-effectiveness of lifestyle intervention in obese subfertile women.
